History
Centred around the ancient hamlet of Nettleswell Cross, Harlow Park was designed by Dame Sylvia Crowe following the master plan prepared for the town by Sir Frederick Gibberd in 1947.
Gibberd was quoted as stating ""Unlike the conventional municipal park, Harlow's Town Park was planned with no hard boundaries shutting it off from the urban area, so that it merges imperceptibly with its surroundings. The picturesque hamlet of Netteswell cross, with its old houses and pub, was incorporated in the design so that there would be life in the park at all times."
