Harlow Steel Band

Add News

Harlow Steel Band which was established in 2003, are based at the Sumners Recreation Centre in Harlow, Essex, where they hold their rehearsal sessions every Monday evening.

Under the tutorship of Samuel Dubois from the Ebony Steelband, young local people (aged 9-21) are offered the chance to take part in weekly steel pan workshops. Those wishing to attend are not required to have any existing musical ability to join the band and all sessions are completely free of charge.

The Band has performed at several events over the past 6 years including an annual concert at Harlow's Black History Showcase, the Essex Youth Games in Southend, the Harlow Town Show along with numerous other local community events. They have also featured on BBC Look East, performing Winter Wonderland in 2006, and BBC News the following summer.
The aspiration for the future of the Harlow Steelband is simple: to get bigger and better and become involved in more national events during the next few years.
